Our Featured Projects of the MonthPrevious Jobs of the Month METAL ROOF JOBS OF THE MONTH I am behind here and we have some great work out there that has not been recognized. We have quite a few here. Texas First, we want to congratulate the folks at Port Enterprises in Austin for their installation of the roof at Lake Travis Middle School. Steven McCauley and his boys did a great job here on this large re-roof project for Austech Roof Consultants. This was about 600 squares of existing 1" tall X 20" wide 2 piece snap panels with end laps that had to come off and our 200 Series Double lock X 16" wide went down in its place. New full length panels were formed onto the roof using Archzilla™ and as usual Port did a great job. Thank you! Here is what was up there to start with.
Here it is finished.
Next we move on to Freer Texas where Samuel Dean did one super fine job on a retrofit at Freer Elementary School. Jack White was the Consultant and Randy Holhaus at Kel Munoz in San Antonio was the architect. This was an existing 900 squares of 18" X 3" tall T-rib panel with 180' runs and a whole bunch of leaky end laps installed over an open frame. The solution here was to leave the old roof in place and install a site-formed full length Titan 300 X 22" wide panel over a Retro Zee or Roof Hugger with additional framing installed in the corners. One of the problems here was that the existing roof was installed using clips with a 1" offset. (The panels were floating 1" above the purlins). Roof Hugger recently came out with a new design in order to deal with this common problem on existing open frame standing seam jobs. Basically a special hugger and fastener had to be developed to get a rigid attachment to the purlin and maintain a 1" space between the purlin and the roof hugger. This was the first job with that system and it worked great.
Here is a progress shot.
This is one of the very few jobs Ray has inspected that resulted in absolutely no punch list items. Congratulations to Tommy Black and his boys at Samuel Dean Roofing and Sheet Metal. Now on to probably the finest, cleanest installation Ray has seen all year. This installation was just about perfect. All the fasteners were perfectly lined up and there was no sealant oozing from anywhere. Rick Birkman, Gary Mears and their crew deserve recognition for putting this on so cleanly.

Next we want to congratulate Jerry Eidlewield and his boys at Empire Roofing in Austin for doing a great job installing 460 squares of 200 Series panels in Galvalume Plus at Ada May Faubion Elementary in Leander. Ronnie McGlothlin and John Dollar should be proud of the great work that Jerry is doing for them. I am sure they guys at Austech are happy also with this installation. Here is some nice welded stainless transition trim.
Here is another shot.
We are still in Texas, but we have some more to show here so keep reading. Pioneer Roof Systems also deserves a note here for their work on Cedar Park Middle School. This job was pretty small, but those Milliken Boys and their crew did a real nice job installing about 1500 square feet of SL Hi on a barrel Vault.
Louisiana First we go to New Orleans where J. Reynolds did a great job installing 75,000 square feet of 200DL in Evergreen on Joe Davies School. This was another great job by Matt Skipper, John Camp and the boys at J. Reynolds. Really fine work here.
In Marrero, LA, Rycars Roofing installed about 600 squares of Terra Cotta 200DL on a low slope retrofit job at Alice Harte School. These panels were also site-formed using Archzilla™. Congrats to Ryan, Heavy and the rest of the guys at Rycars.
Lastly for Louisiana, we want to congratulate Miller Roofing and Sellers Group for doing our first 238T job on a school in Erath, LA. This was the removal of an existing retrofit with end lapped panels that were attached to hat sections which were attached to the top of the ribs of the original leaking end lapped roof. The original roof was attached to the existing structure 5' 3" o.c. Here is a progress shot that shows the 1st retrofit on the right being removed. It was a snap panel with end laps attached to hat sections attached to the tops of the ribs of the old roof. This is a really bad idea. The new 238T roof is on the left over Retro-Zees attached directly to the structure.
Here is the Retro Zee and 238T panel being installed. The existing structure is 63" o.c. This would present a significant problem for most Standing Seam panels. In order to meet the wind load we would have been faced with adding a whole bunch of framing if we had used a traditional double lock panel.
By using a 238T, we were able to eliminate the need for additional framing by using continuous clips in the perimeter zone and regular clips in the field. These panels were 90' plus long site-formed using Archzilla™. Here you can see the end of a continuous clip on this panel. The top and bottom 15' of these panels had continuous clips.
Here is a finished shot. Really nice.
Mississippi In Mississippi, we have 2 jobs to look at. First is at the new Mission Support building at Columbus AFB. I hate to say it, but here we got off to a very rough start. Things did not go well for anyone on this one, but in the end, API Sheet Metal and Canton Roofing and Sheet Metal got this job done and over with. The end result was really nice, but getting there was a battle.
Finally, we want to congratulate all the boys at E. Cornel Malone in Jackson, MS for the great job they did at the Pensacola High School Gym. This job had 330 squares of curved 200 Series panels in Surrey Beige. This is a really nice looking job.
