Greetings and Happy New Year.
I hope you had a great holiday with your family.
Let me share with you what happened to me a few weeks ago. My mother in law’s birthday was last month. She would be mad if I said how old she was, but lets say she hasn’t quite hit 90. She wanted to play golf on her birthday. My wife and I met her at a course outside of San Antonio. It was a beautiful cool clear day. I hate to admit she put a thorough whipping on me. She putted out on 18, looked at her watch and said “gotta go” because her date was picking her up for dinner in a couple of hours. She took my money, jumped in her cart and took off. Last thing I saw was her burning rubber out of the parking lot!
Steel Prices
Some of you know that steel prices are going up. You may have gotten some announcements recently from other manufactures indicating a 5% increase in the last couple of weeks. In talking to people that know what is going on there are a host of reasons:
- increase scrap cost
- increased fuel
- weak dollar
- reduced imports
- increased consumption abroad
What I see is that the available sources for steel has been greatly reduced over the past couple of months and the prices have been quoted are definitely higher. The big news this past week there was that there was an explosion at Severstahl's Rouge mill in Detroit and they are not planning to rebuild because of the age of the equipment and Mittal's Sparrows Point blast furnace has a crack in it and will be down for 3 months. This translates into 54,000 tons of daily production was taken out of the domestic steel manufacturing capacity last week. That is enough material in 24 gauge to cover 81,000,000 square feet of roof per day.
Going forward, you need to add at least 10% to your normal quote pricing going for materials. We will honor previous quotes for jobs shipping through the end of February. Contact your area product representative for more information and how to prepare for contracts shipping beyond February.

If you have a website that has a Vendor page on it and you would like to include ABC on it. I would appreciate it if you would stick this on your vendor page. If you already have ABC on your vendor page, please replace what you have with this.
Just paste it and stick it.

Titan Re-Roof Jobs
We have a couple of Titan Re-Roof jobs coming up this month. One is here in Houston where Sterling Harrison at ARCI and his boys are going to do a Low Slope Titan Re-roof directly over a modified roof. This 2 story office has about 70 squares, there are 6 major curbs, a few pipes and a number of small AC units that will be moved all together in one area. We will use 22” and 16” wide panels, Ultra Shims to level the panels and transverse panels uphill of the curbs to make this one work. Archzilla ran the 75’ panels right onto the roof here in a couple of hours.

There is a 120’ long internal gutter that we fabbed in 30’ pieces using stainless supplied by ARCI. This should be a great example of what we developed the Titan System for. A long term fix to a low slope roof. We know ARCI will do a great job here.

Last but not least...
In order to start the year off correctly, Brian and I have put together a survey. I would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to take it. It has like 8 questions on it so it should not take much time. My goal is to continuously improve my business and I appreciate your input.
